Mr. Peake primarily concentrates his practice in the areas of medical malpractice, assisted living and long-term care neglect cases, healthcare matters, and representation of healthcare professionals in licensing and Board matters. He has also handled general insurance defense litigation, including products liability, premises liability and commercial transportation cases.
Mr. Peake defends physicians, podiatrists, optometrists, dentists and pharmacists, hospitals, assisted living and long-term care facilities in medical malpractice cases throughout Western Virginia in federal and state courts. Mr. Peake has tried over 30 medical malpractice cases to jury verdict, and has tried over 50 jury trials of all kinds. He also handles appellate work in appeals from jury trials.
He is a frequent speaker to healthcare professionals and medical malpractice insurance carriers about the defense of medical negligence cases and other related topics.
Additionally, Mr. Peake has an administrative practice before professional licensing and regulatory boards, including the representation of health care professionals in disciplinary hearings. He advises hospital clients and independent physician practices on health care issues involving patient confidentiality, medical records, peer review, risk management and coverage under professional liability policies.
