Mr. Stephens’ practice is focused on civil litigation, particularly in the areas of insurance defense, auto liability defense, premises liability defense, and subrogation. As a former law clerk to the Judges in the 23rd Judicial Circuit (Roanoke and Salem), Mr. Stephens gained valuable experience assisting the Court in all aspects of civil tort litigation including pretrial discovery and evidentiary disputes, and drafting bench briefs and letter opinions for the judges. Following his clerkship, Mr. Stephens was able to gain extensive trial experience as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for the City of Roanoke. During his tenure in the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Mr. Stephens prosecuted all levels of criminal cases, including misdemeanors and felonies; he regularly appeared in the General District and Circuit Courts of the 23rd Judicial Circuit.
